I like Aatons wooden handgrip with Run/stop button. Its perfect for holding the camera steady with your right hand and focus/zooming with your left hand. I read that it uses a LEMO 2 connection. Is there any way to make this work with Red?

    Thanks for the help.

Absolutely. We can make the cable for you and sell you the handgrip as well.

It works. Call Pana-Tech and he might be able to rig you a nice coiled cable as he did for me. The Tech at Abelcine is topnotch as well...he rigged the nice red button for me.

    cheers.

How do you like the grip on your Red Haskell?

For those interested in price- I got quoted around $800USD for the handgrip kit (no Lemo mod).

I am a big fan of the aaton grip...and aaton as well. My brother and I use to shoot with a A-minima and I saved yanked this grip from the camera package before I sold it. I did not need to mod it at all, just needed the cable made and a replace the trigger.

The lens is an old Vivitar 35mm-105mm zoom that I picked up today and will be testing out tomorrow. I have a shoot coming up at Burning Man and needed exposable lenses (although I dont really mean that) for the harsh environment.

A bunch of people have contacted me about this on and offline. So we're going to create a product that includes the handgrip, a coupler to attach it to the rods, a drop-down rod for better positioning of the handgrip and the service work to change the trigger switch in the handgrip and make the correct cable.

The standard Aaton trigger switch is continuous connection in one direction and momentary in the other to allow for Camera Run (continuous) and Test/Single Frame (momentary), but the RED just needs momentary so the new switch (RED colored, it so happens) is momentary in both directions. This is the same switch we put in to work with video cameras such as the F900 and the Varicam.

We'll have something created in a day or two and I'll let everyone know about it then.

    Cool. Great idea.
Will the coupler work with the 19mm Rods ?
