Giving a camera demo tomorrow and am fuzzy about a few things.

    1. When and why would I need to change the shutter phase?
    2. What is the difference between Reel # Change and Reel # Reset? My assumption is Reset is to be used at the beginning of a project and Change is to be used mid-project?
    3. What is the Drop indicator in the surround area of the EVF & LCD? Number of dropped frames? If so, is this on a shot by shot basis?
    4. I'm unclear as to the purpose of the GPIO Polarity settings.

Thanks in advance for any insight.

Found the answer to this one. Use Synchro to rough in CRT synch until the bar stabilizes and use phase to roll it off screen. Still searching for answers to the others.

    3. Drop framed Yes!
It will show how many frames been dropped in the current take. These frames will be blacked out when you run the files in any application on a computer and in camera playback. The number will reset every new take.

It happens to me when the camera is shaking too much while recording to RedRaid/Drive. Thats why CF cards are better against shakes.

Thanks, Christian. Haven't had any dropped frames yet (drives still on back order), but that's what I thought. 2 down, 1 to go!

    2. Is as you said.

    4. Polarity is a setting that allows you to define if the GPI pulse is active on a HI/LOW transition or a LO/HIGH transition.

Thanks for the reply, Stuart, but I still don't know what this means practically. Is it something you adjust depending on what kind of GPI trigger is being used? Under what circumstances would I need to change this?

Depending on what kind of GPI trigger your using (switch/button) some will send a high signal (voltage) when pressed or a low signal (no voltage) to the camera to trigger the start/stop function. It super cool that RED lets you customize that and it opens up the comparability of the camera.
