This has been an ongoing issue for sometime. Have been working with older versions of Redcine-X, ver. 50.1 because those were the only versions that would work, sometimes, with my system. iMac 5k. 32 GB ram. Looks presets stopped working so I upgraded to ver. 51.47074 the smorning and the image curves no longer work, look presets still not working for me. Going back to an older version.

Will try Rand Thompson's suggestions first.

    Thank you.

    Joe,

Still having the same problems when upgrading to a newer version of Redcine-X? Joe, could export out a .r3d still frame of the problem .r3ds and maybe a still from any .r3d that worked, maybe there will be something in the metadata that can tell what's going on.

Also inable "Verbose Logging" in the "General" tab in Redcine-X and try what you've done before and send that last log file to Red to examine.

    Joe,

Also, did you change the location of the folder where you had the look presets stored? That can also cause the problem you are experiencing. Once you change the location, that can possibly cause a disconnect from the look file.

Next , I'm on a tablet currently and away from home so can't open Redcine-X, but I think its "Automatically save RMD" in the " General" tab of Redcine-X you have to check otherwise once you leave Redcine-X , when you open it back up again, it will revert back to the original look before the preset was applied.

    Joe,

Just thought of something else. You are on a Mac and Redcine-X version 51 has been optimized for much better real time R3d playback with Nvidia Graphics cards . That could have something to do with it as well.

Hey Rand. I've tried everything that you suggested earlier. Even sent message and emails to Red with no response. I'm shooting with a Red Epic and re-grading footage shot on the Red ONE. I'm wondering if Red is perhaps putting all their effort is optimizing their software for the DSMC II and leaving their older cameras in the dust. Tonight I'm going to try out Resolve and see if DaVinci plays nice with older R3D files.

    Joe,

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier, been gone from since around 2:00 PM this evening. I wouldn't think that IPP2 would treat the Red Epic and Red One cameras any differently. I believe I remember that you were still using the "Legacy" Mode and not IPP2 is that correct? Maybe try the IPP2 workflow Pipeline?

If you need Any help with .R3d files in Resolve let me know.
