Clearly they cut together quite well! Even with the thousands of hours I've logged examining, crafting and controlling frames and motion characteristics, I'm not sure I could accurately break it down to the different cameras myself, which I guess is the point. It would be a lot of guessing. Nice work. There are moments here that looked like it would physically make sense to use the Komodo in a super nimble rig, but that would also rely on assumption.

Not used to seeing global shutter, so its hard to know what forensically to look for. Aside from lack of jello in motion blur, but its harder to do that on YouTube. In general I'm not sure I have a "feel" for what global shutter does either. Been a minute. Most of these shots aren't long enough for me to lock down the vibe, especially not knowing which is which.

Of course, elements of this spot could be willfully misinterpreted too. Hopefully we don't go too crazy with it.

Excited to see something solely shot on Komodo when we can! I'm taking it as a great sign that Komodo hit the stated design parameters though. Definitely in the family.

Whats up with the low DR and highlight rolloff. Did they blew the highlights on purpose? (as those clouds, and big lights in the casino/hotel, look pretty bad)

My guess is that it's not on purpose. Images 1 and 3 are slightly darker. Images 2, 4, 5, 6 and 7 are slightly over. Turning the sound down and not paying attention to the weird script makes it easier to see.
Still, I wouldn't judge the quality of Komodo from this.

It looks a lot like images from "6 Underground" (by Michael Bay) and I'm confused because Jarred said Komodo wasn't used on the film but now on IMDB it IS listed as one of the camera used.
So... Was it ? Or was it not ?

I wouldn't judge Komodo solely on that commercial either as Michael Bay has a pretty extreme style. I would wait for more footage.

This looks like global shutter blur to me, or an extremely fast rolling shutter. Continuous movement in the eyes with no breaks in shape or changes in direction.
Similar tight handheld shots with some camera shake look like Komodo. They are very short shots for the most part.

Even so not heavily graded nor put trough the hell gates of SFX post work, I love of this shows as far as how nicely Komodo plays with its big brothers and it changes the game a lot, and here is where the Komodo as a B cam only camera discussion ends and the Komodo as a Main camera discussion begins... Bravo!

It’s hard to really assess with the horrible compression artifacts compliments of YouTube, but honestly, all the cameras seemed to match very well. Quality seems on par across the board so that is definitely a positive. My only concern, as others have pointed out was the blown highlights. Some have suggested this is deliberate. I can’t recall ever shooting and thinking, “this shot needs some blown highlights”. So I have doubts about that one. I suppose we will learn more in the coming weeks. It will be interesting to see how the dynamic range compares to its sibling.

Saw the commercial last night through the 4K feed on the FOX Sports app/Apple TV 4K and on a 120” screen from my 4K projector. Now I’m not saying that the commercial was played out in 4K, but the quality of the 4K stream was head and shoulders above any DirecTV HD feed and the commercial looked good. Just looking at the commercial, I couldn’t tell you what camera it was shot on, which is a good thing, because at that level, it all does and should look good.
