Camera Bags!

Have you given any thought into having Oakley or Red produce camera bags? I love my Oakley luggage and bags, but nothing on the market comes close to these when it comes to bags for pro dslrs and video equip.

Yeah, this has been an interesting adventure for me. For big jobs where a lot of my Red gear will be used, I have a special case that was designed by Greg from Digital FX and Encore cases. It's big, doesn't have wheels, etc but that's what grips are for (or me if crew is limited). It's great because it protects everything nicely and it is good for spot checking to make sure everything is in its place.

But then there are the shoots where I want to go with the camera fully built, ready to pull it out of the bag and start shooting. That's where a bag comes in handy. I have one that comes close to fulfilling the task, but sometimes the camera build is too high, and when the viewfinder is attached, the whole build is too wide. What's tough for a company to build a Red bag is that the camera is so modular, people will build it a hundred different ways and so dimensions will be different and that puts the bag maker into a bit of a dilemma. It almost becomes a custom job. But I'd be curious to see a design if someone has done one. Might fit my needs.

One thing I do is take a laundry basket put a tempurpedic pillow in it and place the fully built camera in that. I can arrive at the location and start shooting as soon as the camera boots up. It's not a perfect solution but it works. I also have been using my Tamrac backback on run and gun shoots but I do have to build the camera a bit when using this setup.

Interested to see what others are doing.

I had a portabrace smuggler for trips laying around and it fits the Red really well with most accessories some attached some not but building takes a less than five minutesa and I could probably get a pull and shoot config going if I tried.

I usually sit with it fully built in my lap while my partner drives me around. (Only dif between hand held and studio is the handles are either up or down and studio mode gets the cradle and drive, while hand held is the quickplate and CF.)

Hi guys, I'm new to the red user forums. Just purchased a RED One and am looking for a good rugged case to carry it in.

Any suggestions? I've searched around the web and there don't seem to be any bags specifically for the Red. Are there certain dimensions I'm looking for?

Any help would be appreciated!
