Mini-mag reader

Hi Everyone,
I used a Mini-mag to connect to my new mac pro laptop and it stops transferring footage about 20 minutes in repeatedly. I connected to my older 2013 macpro and it transfers without stopping. is there a firmware update for the reader? I could not transfer in the field.

Possibly your laptop is overheating and creating the problem as a result.

They'll be others who use Macs for field transfer that will chime in, but this very much sounds like a USB timeout due to running on battery power. I recall that there was some sort of "wake-up" script a lot of people ran a bit ago to ensure longer duration offloads wouldn't die.

Could it be the laptop going to sleep? If so, Phil is right, try downloading the Don't Sleep extension.

This problem has plagued a couple of DITs I know... Most use a TB3 powered hub or similar (for USB 3 to mini mag reader) and this mitigates against the issue..

I may be getting it slightly wrong so will send this to a DIT I use that is great and had this issue..

You can use a powered USB hub while you wait for the solution.
