We're talking about an off the shelf SSD in a case at this point.

An SSD in a case. With a single adapter.
Because I’m running a business, not guessing on the internet, I know precisely what all the costs are.
You couldn’t be more wrong. In fact you haven’t even listed the biggest ticket item in the cost of sale.

I make a serious point, in all aspects of our business, to price fairly.
I’ve had resellers of our products ask us to raise prices, as they believe the market will stand it. Conversely we insist on lower margins than on our other products, as the value add proposition for resale of media is low.

The final price of a Longtake SSD is calculated, not plucked from thin air, and on personal principle it is priced as competitively as we can reasonably go.

The fact John is on this list defending his very clearly competitve pricing is depressing for me..

Just reiterating this is a Red thing and not Kippertie.

KT is a great company! And you are a great filmmaker!!

Once the cat is out of the bag

The cat is outta the bag!

Capacity wise the long take is sweet, the shape for me is a no go, but I get it...

I wold love to see a drive for guys that don’t care about recovery and so on. Just a say $500 1tb drive.... If shooting is very important use high end drives, regular shoots, use standard drive.

    Simple

Once the cat is out of the bag, its out of the BAG!

Interested how the shape causes a problem?

For me it sticks out too far and the ram module shape...

I would rather have it a full rectangle not an L shape if you understand me.

    But hey I’m different....

It would clash with some battery module eject buttons if it was full width all the way back.
Wrapped it as small as we could for a reason :)

I like the boomerang shape. It’s more aerodynamic for throwing at annoying producers.

I see, any chance of a stripped down version, may have to go lower than 512 or above 1tb per RED, is it something that can be done?

Ok sure I'll give you that, but have you considered that getting angry at niche equipment manufacturers on the internet gives me a feeling of power that makes me believe for a moment that I have regained some semblance of control over my life and allows me to feel a fleeting moment of superiority that fills the hole of mediocrity that I otherwise find myself constantly trying to climb out of?
