  1. #1 4TB Raid solutions
    Hi,

I'm in need of some temporary storage for a project.
    I reckon I'll need about 4TB.
I primarily use a MacBook Pro with an eSATA card, and a G5 also with an eSATA card, so a RAID with an eSATA connection would be ideal.

I was planning on buying a 5 bay enclosure (and running it with 5 1Tb drives as RAID 5), but I don't know what brands are reasonably priced and reliable.

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks,

    Ed.

Not a 5-Drive... and I've not actually used it, but I like iStar's gear. A good balance between quality and price. I've been considering this one, but I recently bought a 1-TB G-RAID FW800 external drive, and am having a hard time justifying it now (I have 7TB on a rackmount, so storage isn't an issue, just portability).

Remember that a 5 drive 1Tb in Raid 5 solution will yield about 3.4Tb once formatted.

I use a variety of Sans Digital solutions, which have worked really well. eSATA, Firewire and USB connects, and a lot of raid options. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16816111016

Its not cheap, but works well.

I've got the Enhance EnhanceBOX E8 Series eSATA enclosure that holds 8 drives and love it! However, I don't know if it supports 1TB drives yet. I've got 5 750GB hard drives that work great though.
