There's a funny story about these, but I have secretly been testing out the new Global Dynamics United 98Wh V-Lock Batts for the last couple months:

    Short Summary on these.

These are the first batteries that feature a machined aluminum backing and feature 1X D-Tap, 1X USB A, Rubber Port Caps, 4X LED Power Indicator, and because they are under 100Wh meet TSA guidelines for air travel (which is a big plus for me).

The metal battery shell does more than look pretty and protect the battery from bad things. It's also a heat sink which helps on camera and especially during faster charging. Also, they are available in Red or Black for the stealthy peeps.

Also, these also have the right protocols to communicate battery info to your RED cameras so you can see accurate charge info on screen. Sort of a given, but hey, relevant.

I've been testing them on all sorts of chargers and they work great. I have 4X of them on me right now in Vegas. Photos here are actually about 2 months in from nearly daily use btw.

They're available now in the GDU Web Shop:

Presuming these are okay to charge on the Red charger?

I really hope this question doesn't come off as belittling, but aren't these just metal versions of the 98wh slim v-lock batteries RED sold directly for a short time? Just curious.

Edit: looks like my memory is bad ;) https://www.reduser.net/forum/showth...s-now-shipping
Those were slimmer and only 43Wh

    Will definitely grab myself some!

They are fairly similar to some of the Dynacore offerings (with the cells and electronics being the same as the Dynacores according to their website) but with a much nicer housing.

Yep. These are basically 2X the capacity of the Slim V-Locks that RED made a bit ago and I think with much better cells. 43Wh and that form factor was good for gimbals, but only about 30 minutes of up time on DSMC2 brains. These new ones get you about 1.5 hours of up time and extend slightly further out from the camera, but smaller width and height for sure.

Yeppers. I have charged them on Anton Bauer, Bebob, Dynacore, and a couple other weird chargers in the last couple months. Nothing messed them up so far.

Panasonic makes some nice cells, in America, in Nevada, actually...

Powerful little buggers. They put them in electric cars.

In case Red wants to keep the cells us made...
