Looking at the Soderberg image again, and the pins for the batteries look like something that can and will break, snap off.

I had an experience on a shoot with DSMC2 where the camera kept shutting down. After taking it completely apart, on the shoot, the problem appeared to be the gold pins for the battery module (WC gold mount) one which got stuck inside it's encasement. Note that I had never taken the module off since putting it on the first time, and it had worked fine for a year.

So again design is locked but I see those pins as the thing that will break snap like a toothpick, get dust and gunk inside.

But he doesn't obviously. He has said that the color science is still being nailed down. My guess is that the first samples you'll see is when Komodo becomes available to buy. Asking vs asking with an overtone of entitlement is something that is easy to spot on these boards. And entitlement just wrecks the mood for everyone, especially the creator.
Well said. And to be fair I understand the request... I'm giving everyone a peek behind the curtain and its human nature to want the curtain to open wider.

Nobody is demanding anything. They were valid questions. Only Morons buy stuff without testing it or without viewing anything.
I'd say the way some requests that have been presented have been borderline demanding... but to your own point nobody nobody is asking anyone to buy anything. You can follow along with the development if you want to... your choice.

There are no pre-orders, no deposits and to be very clear, The only thing I promise you is that there are no promises. The world is a bit of a shit show right now... Let us all make the best of it and try and stay positive.

Jarred you are amazing to respond to us and share what you have. So thank you. We are preparing for the potential for things around the world and specifically in the US to change. Let’s hope warmer weather will slow the spread. Regardless if you have not been affected you will be. All work for me has been canceled or postponed. We are all excited about Komodo, but unfortunately we want it ASAP. For now I am taking a step back and focusing on other more important or I should say pressing things. Jarred I just hope when it is ready we will be able to get our hands on the new camera with as little delay as possible. If it takes more time we won’t be mad, or at least I won’t be. Bigger things to deal with right now. Jarred thank you for the peak behind the curtain. Excited to see more as things develop!

It was the first test of our first ever implementation of 4k 12g SDI. And In true Soderbergh fashion, we only got it working the day of... what he needed for it to work didn't work when I boarded the plane and literally on my flight over from LA to NY to hand off the cameras the engineers threw down some serious magic.

I spent an hour on that flight coming up with a " sorry it didn't work out " speech to tell Soderbergh.. luckily I didn't need to use it.

    Our engineers are such rockstars.

Awesome. That's some real trust and competency right there. When I think about that workflow, I realize how spoiled I am by how I can interact with R3D. Provides an incredible safety net for those of us who are less, uh... practiced. Not that an SDI stream isn't data rich, but still.

    Excited to see the results!

Great! I really feel like, way more than a "Baby DSMC2", Komodo is a "Pre DSMC3" camera, can't wait to see what you've done with the IQ (color science / dynamic range / highly rolloff ..)

Does shooting the 4k 12g stream directly have an advantage over R3D?

Jarred, Im in no rush, please take your time and get it right. Given the current situation and the word coming in from the grapevine people need to calm down. Its amazing that development is still able to continue at all. Everyone needs to be prepared for the very real possibility of delays over the coming weeks as the world hunkers down to combat this virus. Stay safe people

No.. not at all. Simply needed to get it done first because it's the monitor path and since it was new to us we needed to get it right. R3D's are king but doesn't do you any good if you can't see what you are shooting :)

Sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but with 4K 12G SDI out becoming a thing for the first time on RED, do we have to be vigilant with plugging/hotswapping power as Arri advises, or have you guys found a way to mitigate that on Komodo?
