I wonder if there is a recommended location to engrave on the Komodo? Would love to have my company's diamond laser etched

    Hi Clayton,

CFexpress is still a bit of a unicorn and CFast 2.0 is production proven and there are many reliable brands out there.
At the same time, REDCODE does not require faster speeds.
So, at least for Komodo there is no need to go for fairly untested and more scarcely available.

It’s actually it’s own sensor. Komodo has a new sensor and if you see the side by side comparison, it’s quite neutral which imo is great for grading. That’s what makes me excited about Komodo is that they can continue to develop the Komodo sensor, and in the future we may even see a VV Komodo sensor. I’m excited to see where komodo goes in the future. I hope Komodo is not a one off and that it continues to get sensor updates similar to DSMC2.

As mentioned above it's its own thing.

What's exciting is that if you look at the dimensions of the sensor horizontally, that 27mm width in 6K scales nicely to 36mm width in 8K :D

I'd expect that in the future, given the RF mount is designed for full frame, you'll see an upgraded 8K FF Komodo at a higher cost with higher processing power to handle the extra resolution. The only real unknown is if they can push the global shutter across that FF size to get to 8K 48p, or at least windows via 2.4:1.

    /speculation

    Cheers,

    paul :)
