Awesome.. spent the day flying my Gemini and CN-E glass on a drone .. really wouldn't mind shedding a couple pounds! I'm excited to see the Komodo's control port.. RCP via Freefly Movi Controller has gotten so good. The slick new Komodo baseplate is needed for that?

    Perhaps Komonochrome or Ko-Monochrome?
Ko in Japanese = child or small which might be fitting?

If I'm buying one, it's going to be the monochrome.
Good production values may not be noticed. Bad production values will be.

Anyways, its an active baseplate. Put it on if you need it, take it off if you don't. Hooks up to the EXT port.
First you had my curiosity now you have my attention.

So I had the engineers turn on the in-camera top display preview.

Power the camera from the rig ( no batteries ) . no bolt on monitor, and a small pancake lens and it's pretty insane what starts to open up on a gimbal.

Really curious to see what small compact wide angle lenses are available in RF mount.

I have a question. Forgive me if it's already in here, but I do not frequent REDUser much and cannot go through 387 pages:

Is Komodo going to be a part of what my friends affectionately call the "RED Paper Weight Business Model" where by the Komodo does not cost much, but by the time you get everything you need to make it work you've added a few thousand onto it, or will this camera be ready to shoot out of the box not counting memory & lens?

PS I have "affectionately" reminded my friends that the Ranger comes with "almost everything" needed to shoot. Very interested in that but will wait until it comes with a Canon mount.

Thanks in advance! Nice to see everyone!

If this is an "out of the box" camera, then I am thinking this could be an amazing first camera for my sons to get started on.
