They could do something like Blackmagic does sometimes, an in studio presentation by one or two representatives and a small camera crew talking about their latest offerings on Youtube. No audience and with as few people as needed.

The more interesting question to me is how all these cancellations affect future years when companies realize that not going to a trade show didn't matter to their sales.

The media-scape has change much over the years, but the relevance of an industry trade show like this gets you in front of:
    - reporters
    - media coverage
    - industry professionals
    - professionals with purchasing power
    - professionals with influence upon industry
    - competitors
    - potential vendors
    - potential resale/retailers
    - potential supplies
    - potential partners/investors
    - introduction to new technologies

The big shows like NAB and a few others are even tied to product roadmaps and delivery and announcement dates to exploit potential. It's a much more complicated ecosystem than mere "here's what we are up to". Which is why in some cases these companies spend up to millions to pull off things like CES, NAB, etc.

It's a big marketing spend and there's still value in it. But there's certainly other marketing strategies and even more targeted trade shows for more specific crowds.

It's important to note the main reason for ALL Vegas trade shows is Hookers, Coke and Gambling (HCG) for corporate executives and it may still be possible to have a mini NAB "retreat" where just the exec's can go and maybe do some product demo's and PR but mainly HCG.

Apple and Red should be commended for incredible public health foresight in canceling their NAB presence before canceling was a thing.

NAB has been a dead man walking for at least 2 weeks. I just hope things resolve enough for CineGear to happen in June.

Cancelled and looking for opportunities to explore postponed/rescheduling.

But that will be hard after a few other tradeshows that will still be going on later in the year.

I would not wager that those shows will happen. And I am fairly certain that we won't see NAB till 2021.
