  1. #1 SmallHD D-Tap Solution
    Hello,

looking for suggestions to power a SmallHD screen via D-tap using a faux LP-E6 or Sony L-Series battery adapter.

SmallHD themselves offers a d-tap adapter, but it got some bad reviews. WC offers one, at 4x times the price :-|

Looking to see if anybody can recommend another option that has proven to be reliable in the field ?

    Thx

I find they all fail eventually. Now I just buy a few cheap ones and always have a spare handy.

There’s an Atomos one I’ve been using for years, no issues so far

    GL Optics Leica R
    Nikkor
Looking forward to finally using my Hydrogen with whatever Komodo is...

It does say it’s for “Atomos devices only” but I’ve had it work with a few other devices, so use at your own risk.

These things are great, but I haven't seen one in stock for a while. It's got a very useful 2 pin lemo pass through.

I use two of the smallHD ones- the dummy battery isn't the part that fails its the cable. I had one go out on me for no reason, smallHD has good customer service and sent me a replacement with haste.

I'd buy two from smallHD and call it a day with a backup. They also sell a 2pin lemo dummy battery for a considerable price increase. I use the barrel tap one on my smallHD 502 on camera and another on the 702 bright in a monitor cage with a teradek.
