Need a consultant to help getting going on Revolve.

Hi all. . .

I'm looking for a patient, understanding paid consultant to help get me up and running on Resolve. (I'm currently running Premiere Pro.)

I've got a PC running Windows (of unknown variety. . . I don't even know how to find out!), an old Mac monitor (it may be time for a new one) and a Flanders Scientific CM171.

I'm shooting a DSMC1 Scarlet Dragon 5K camera.

What I'm wanting to be able to do is edit a 5K timeline and simultaneously output a 1080p signal to the Flanders.

I am happy to pay this individual for their help. But remember, patience and understanding are the key. I'm a smart guy (Ph.D.), but technology is absolutely NOT my current forte, and I honestly have no interest in it becoming such in the future.

I'm not a "Certified Resolve Trainer" so I would be hesitant to "Train" anyone. The Only "Certified Resolve Trainer" on this forum that I know of is "Marc Wielage". If you just need the basics for using Red Footage with Resolve , Red Team Members, Other forum members and myself can help you with that. However, if you want to know that the training you are receiving is certified by Blackmagic Design for Resolve, A Certified trainer Like Marc Wielage would be the best way to go.

I can't really help with the Flanders Monitor setup, I don't own or use one but I know many here do use them and can help you set one up.

Where are you starting from now?

Do You already have Resolve installed? And are you using The "Free" or the paid "Studio" Version

Hi Stephan,

More than likely you'll want to install a Blackmagic Decklink card to get an 10-bit SDI signal to your Flanders. If you are on a laptop and it has a Thunderbolt 3 port there are options for an external box as well that doesn't need to install into a system.

Stephen, send a PM with your contact info and I'd be happy to help. I'm on Macs, but as far as Resolve goes, I should be able to get you going at a basic level so you can start working.

The key to being able to get the Flanders to see the signal correctly is to have the proper i/o configuration. As a first step, if you could find out if you have an PCI slots available or if the PC is newer maybe you have some USB-C ports that can accommodate some i/o.

As far as Resolve, are you looking to edit in Resolve or color grade?

Why I do need to use Redcine-X? I've never used Redcine anything in my life before.

What I want to do is just import 5K files in to Resolve and go. . . edit and color in one program. I never want to leave that environment from input to final output. Maybe that isn't possible with Resolve. It certainly is with Premiere, however. I am currently editing in Premiere, using a Premiere plug-in for color work (Colorista II. . . and I'm VERY happy with my grading and color, by the way).

All I want is a plug and play set-up. I know I do have a Black Magic 4K SDI card installed.
