I know people have talked about this before but...

I have done tests converting 2K proxies to codecs like ProresHQ and comparing it to ones converted from the Raw data. Honestly, I am not seeing much of a difference.

Is there any reason I cant do a one-light in redalert and output 2K proxies then convert those to ProresHQ? Will there be much of a difference from encoding from the Raw data?

For comparison, I am getting close to real-time when encoding to proresHQ from the 2K proxies but when converting from the Raw its taking about 1 minute per second of footage.

    Any help would be appreciated.

P.s. What bit-depth are the QT proxies?

Proxies should be 10 bit 422

The proxies are 8-bit. You won't see much difference until you start CC'ing and banding becomes an issue.

The proxies are not properly debayered or fully decompressed. In fact correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the _H proxies only use three out of four pixels in the bayer pattern.
