Could it have had better ISO if it was a FF 12K sensor instead of S35? ISO800 is so 2010.

Itís a very different feeling sensor in lotís of ways. Iím no colourist either, but itís been eye opening to grade the footage. I do know that Blackmagic RAW is the only way this sensor could work the way it does. They designed the codec for this sensor. Iím amazed they managed to keep it secret for three years....

    John,
you noticed different blacks, better than the other blackmagics.
    For the DR?
The colors looking better appear perhaps due to this new type of sensor.
What do you think about it?
I am curious about your impressions.

Andrew, you can see my join date right below my name -- just like I can see yours. And I was not making fun of Curtis, I was simply pointing out that I have not seen anyone that I would call a "cool kid" sharing Komodo footage.

Curtis is a great guy. Iíd like to see his CC in 12k.

I hope RED responds fittingly to what the market will be by the time DSMC3 is released.

    You tell me ?

I like the way it draws a face. I find the tones very subtle. I thought more resolution would be unflattering on a face, but it’s the opposite. It’s actually incredibly beautiful.

Well, maybe it was the lenses. Supremes in this case.

I think Alexa classic is 6ms... might of changed since then (different aspect ratio sensors and open gate, etc. etc.)

So finally a TRUE 4K camera with 4k worth of each color in the frame. Now I got it....

Lol! But yeah... the yesterdecade/prism+CCD method he showed had much better colours in spite of the optical anomalies (in my opinion)...

And technically, it might actually still only be 2k per colour, and then the other 6k *half* are these clear/white photosites... which I'm actually excited for... Are they brightness only? Can they be used for depth? Are they adaptive and can boost whichever colour channel needs it? I dunno, but we'll definitely find out (and I still think "equal parts" RGB can only make for more even colour/saturation.
