    Have a 255 nah that just died, old I guess? Can't read it in anything so down to test it apart and replace it with something if possible. Anyone ever try this successfully? Or should I just use it as a "vintage" shelf piece haha

    If you’re going to replace it with the same solid-state drive that’s hosted inside, it will work. It’s hard to source the same drive that was the base of first gen redmags - they are totally out of sale and are replaced with m.2 standard drives everywhere

    You cant just replace the ssd you would need to do what jinnymag does, something with adding the serial number of the ssdd in a slot of the ssd firmware.
