how to adjust olf OLED EVF in IPP2

Hello folks i have quick wuestion for you experts. i got Bomb OLED that is in like new condition, however image is horrifying. brightness feels like its on 110%, blacks are millked out , contrast is low and colors are washed out... i have tried different cables, different ports and adapters, regardless of what i do its always the same.

last time i have used Bomb was on DSMC1 add legacy IPP and i remember that there was a gamma curve that could be applied to the output but i also remember there was some issue with SDI out... anyhow i was not able to fined any settings on my Helium, i am running 7.4.1 build


if you have any tips i would appreciate it. also isn't there a some PDF user Manuel that came with Bomb? i cant find any on Red page

Just curious which bomb you have? There are a few versions.

YOu can do brightness in the Monitoring menu and select which port and EVF. In the newer firmware builds, you'll also find what color pipeline you're getting in your EVF. When I do IPP2 it somehow defaults those values to a random format and I have to go in and change it. I'd start there.

There was never a separate manual but there was something small in the DSMC1 manual:

thes is so strange! How much id they sale this EVF for? 3000$ or so and yet there is not a user guide. average 10$ hot water kettle comes with a booklet in 5 languages but this professional device has no manual, pats numbers, nothing... strange

Depending on the situation, the contrast is a blessing, or not. They should really create a checkbox to let users choose through the Monitor/EVF menu.

That's not really the bomb this EVF.
The real Bomb EVF is the next one. For DSMC².

my assumption is that the issue is the video feed being sent to the evf is not optimized for OLED, so they just milk it out.

But red tech support told me the Bomb EVF WAS TOO DARK in the shadows on DSMC1, so they made the DSMC2 oled more milked out.... but considering you are seeing the bomb evf milked out on a dsmc2 body, then perhaps my assumption is correct that the DSMC2 body sending the evf a signal is the culprit.

that means, the brand new Red Ranger Gemini is not getting a firmware update to make the evf look right. shame for red to release a camera that is then immediatley considered out dated. i tried to test the camera before buying, but this was one of those aspects i overlooked, and buy the time i actually used the camera, the return policy had expired.
