  1. #1 Crimson/Redline render
i'm rendering files through crimson using REDline... It's taking FOREVER...

it's also eating up all my CPU so the activity monitor is off the the charts...

Should it be taking days and days to render 10 minutes of material to apple pro rez? It seems to crap out when i try to render tiffs... I'm rendering on a macbook pro 2.4 core duo, with 4 gigs of ram.... does that sound right??

What are the settings you are using? Days does not sound right. 4 or more hours on some systems for ten minutes.

    Hey,
I've got the debayter quality at full, output to QT, apple prores 422 HQ, TOD/TC... I'm adding 2 second handles and an extra frame for FCP... are there REDline settings i'm maybe not setting properly?

I think this sounds right, is there a significant difference on this system between Redline and Redcine?

Overall it is important to check your colorspace and gamma settings carefully. This is where the most mistakes are made as they aren't currently in the metadata. Best to dequeue most clips and run a couple test clips through before you drop them all. These however shouldn't affect render time at all.

    thanks ian,

do you mean check the colour settings in Crimson, or FCP? as in say, 8-bit vs 16-bit? but if you're saying that it won't effect render times, then i'll worry about colour once i run it through AE...

is there a way maybe to cap the processor usage of REDline?
