  1. #1 RED in the UK one year on, time for meet?
    Hi All,

Next month marks a whole year of shooting RED commercially in the UK.

Things have come a long ways since Rory and Diane at mine films took
delivery of #67 last October leading to the first shoot in November
    2007 for Lionshead/Microsoft Games.

Early firmware builds where challenging but we got by. Then each new
build moved us forward a little at a time with Build 16 marking the
biggest impact with improved image quality and in-camera LUTS etc.

Creating deliverables for editorial, VFX and finally the online/DI has
got successively more streamlined and with introduction of the SDK
lots of kit will work directly with .R3D files.

Personally I have worked on 5 feature films as RED Camera Supervisor
(RED Tech, DIT, Data/Post/DI), of which 3 have been bonded and have
all gone very well with 100s of hours of RED 4K footage shot.

RED are about to ship RED One #4300, then over the next year we will
have the introduction of EPIC, SCARLET, DSMC, which are "in the
process of change" and RED RAY. Never a dull moment!

So are we due to have a get together?

    Jonathan.

Sounds like a great idea. A chance to chat with other users about their experiences.

    My Red arrived this week.

And I would love to hear about Windows/Premiere-based workflows which people are using.

I was hoping that the native support in Premiere would be released by the time my cam arrived. But as there is no sign of it yet, I will have to find another way to do it for now.

Anybody think it's about time to bring up the idea of a meet-up again, to discuss the implications of today's announcements?
