  1. #1 Mini XLRs
Those mini XLRs are extremely unrealiable. Yesterday on a shoot we had to let two of them sit in the camera after we wrapped because I was unable to get them out. I'm thinking the connectors are just bad quality connectors because I've heard of others that have related problems.

I'm wondering if they will be changed out as part of the audio board change?

Sounds like a mechnical fit issue, not a reliability issue on that camera.

With regard to the new audio board it uses the same mini-XLR connectors.

Could you elaborate on what you mean by "mechanical fit issue"? Are the XLR plugs faulty or are you suggesting I'm plugging them in wrongly?

I've seen this too. It seems like the contacts are a bit... not too well made.

You may want to consider using a set of short pig tail cables to save the wear and tear on the connectors within the camera. These could be mini to mini or mini to full sized. Either is fine, but personally, I would go mini to full sized. The important concept is to move the mechanical stress to a point outside of the camera.

Well, then that does define which of the two categories you fall into!

Any one know where to get the 5 pin mini XLR in the UK, or may Red sells these ?

Also I cant find a Neutrik manufactured mini XLR equivalent, is there a high quality version of these plugs.

    thanks,
