  1. #1 New lightweight rod support bracket
Hey - here's our new lightweight support bracket for the Red camera. Mounts directly to the front of the camera so you save weight and complexity over other methods. For 15mm rods, 60mm spacing.

    Here's the Youtube video link:

This prototype is bare 6061 aluminum; finished version will probably be black anodized.

Don't have the price yet - should be a bargain.

Douglas, watched this and your upper handle video you just posted. Wow! You sir, are quite a good inventor/tinkerer. It's awesome to see what you come up with.

cool ;-) I sketched that out months ago but haven't had time to make it my self.

Now I don't have to do it. A must have for steadicam and hand held.

    Thanks,

    Nick

Nice work! I brought that up with the guys back at NAB 2007. Glad to see somebody made it, that's well done.

You know, if it wrapped around the body far enough so it can be secured by the front two lower side bolt fixtures, it could support a bit more weight securely.

it's so great it should be sold on the red store...

can we use it with FF, MB and a lens support ? How much weight the red can handle on the front part ?

  9. #9 invention of bracket
Actually, I invented this device in 1931 with Oscar Barnack, so . . .

And I invented the camera, and the photographic process, sooo . . .

Kristin Wiig and I worked on it together, soooo . . .

    Here's a picture of me and her recreating our invention of peanut butter . . . sooooo .. . . ..

    But seriously -

I will test it to make sure it is plenty strong and of course, send one off to Jarred to see what he thinks.

Thanks for the compliments, guys . . .
