I have customized this camera's base production pack to be a better design for the battery and drive mounts. The standard Red design, which places the drive and battery on top, felt too top heavy for me, and the other design of extending the drive/ battery cage on the rear, was to long for my liking. So, I redesigned and rebuilt the drive cage with quick release plates for the battery and drive to be side mounted on rails, which balances the Red beautifully, and keep the profile short and squatty. This design also separates the drive and the battery, and allows for super quick mounting of the drive and battery separately. The custom mounts also balance out quite nicely.

Another custom modification made to the production pack, is that I have a single bolt connecting the camera to the dovetail / base plate, so I don't have to use all those little allen screws to attach the camera. I will include modifications that allow the body to be mounted to a bogen quick release plate, along with the bogen plate

This camera is in mint condition, has been used very little, and has never been rented out at all. The 5.6 LCD screen has been protected with clear Lexan since I bought it, and I will include a spare new LCD clear cover with the package. The package is located in Santa Fe, New Mexico. I have the original Red boxes for shipping the package out. The custom mounts will also get you really noticed, since they are one of a kind.

I have over $26,000.00 invested in this camera, along with hours of time working out custom modifications to make it quicker and easier to shoot with. I now need to reallocate my capital into building a server, and can be without a camera for the next several months, so rather then renting it out, I have decided to sell.

I will be asking $25,000 for the whole package. If you live in California, it will save you thousands more, since there is no sales tax outside of New Mexico.

Please PM me regarding interest in this camera package. I would require a cashier’s check, and would ship domestic USA FedEx insured with signature release only. Thank you for you interest!

If it is "Unbalanced", why does it sit so straight on a small plate? If you don't know what your saying, why say it. The camera is completely balanced. I use this camera, and had it modified, the pictures speak clearly on this subject. The idea of the Red I thought, was to allow different ideas to be included in the community. I appreciate your opinion, but it is that. The fact is as stated, balanced. Other people including Ted at Red, think it is pretty cool, and applaud and encourage differences in design. If you like the Red design, keep yours' as it is, I like to think outside the box. Not everyone like's the cage high or on the back, this design mounts the drive and battery with individual quick release plates. I also find my design better in the wind and less shakey on a tripod, since it has a lower center of gravity and a smaller height /length profile. How does putting all that weight up top or on the rear, keep the mass balanced? I have tested this design, and find it much more balanced. Please try something out before judging.

Change is all around. New Mexico Red has a cool design, it looks like it's sitting on a small Bogen plate. Looks balanced to me.

I hope and encourage others will make design changes, I too do not like the weight of the battery and drive up high, it does make the camera more prone to shake. I shoot in windy conditions sometimes also, with the mass up high, it's hard for the camera not to shake, not to mention urban streets with heavy trucks and buses shaking the sidewalk. Quick release plates are also a nice idea. Keep the changes flowing.

I will also PM you, since I might need a second camera soon. I like what I see.

that's cool that you put a lot of thought into it and a lot of time into it too, but, i must agree with Zakaree a little, not so much that it's unbalanced, but that it does not seem like a practical set up. how can you shoot hand held with the battery on your nose?
also, those modifications that you spent so much money making, you should have checked out element technica, they have something similar, but cheaper and better thought out. yet, i am sure you had fun doing it, sounds like to you like to tinker, and people like you help the world as a whole.

oh, about the price, i have such a hard time believing that people will pay full price for something used, tinkered with, and modified in such an odd way, but who knows, you might prove me wrong. either way, my hat off to you for your creative spirit.

The only thing modified is the Red cradle and some universal mounts. Nothing on the camera body is changed or tinkered with. The package also includes a belt battery clip, I can't imagine trying handheld, carrying the battery on board. That's why there are compact flash cards also.

This modification I only use on a tripod. I also use a universal mount to mount the LCD up front on the rods to the side of the lens, no nose battery problems. Element technica has nice products, I find them overpriced and not as quick to use.

For the package I will take $23,700. That's less then full price, even if you decided to buy a standard Red cradle to replace my modification. If you use a new Red cradle, it's all factory spec. The modifications I made, provide this package with options. This camera also has had very little use, and is in Mint condition. Thank you for encouraging creative spirit.

    Hi,

Soon delivery will be off the shelf without delay, most people will then expect a big discount for a second hand camera without warranty.
