What would be the main differences between the RED One and Scarlet S35? The only thing I'm seeing is the Redcode and the sensor size (which with filtering should take 5k down to 4k.).

5k sensor, higher data rate, modular design

If that's it, then I'm still going with the RED One, maybe with the 'X' sensor upgrade (which should increase the data rate, no? And possible the sensor size, if I'm not mistaken).

What would be nice is a "RED Two" with the Mysterium-X sensor already in it for the price of the RED One + Sensor upgrade.

this is what I'm not sure about. It was my understanding that a sensor upgrade would not increase data rate. And in fact that RED ONE's current sensor isn't using it's full potential because of data rate limitations. This seems like the biggest advantage to the new Scarlet (and at half the price)

The main difference is that the RED-ONE is available right now. In my opinion, many here have forgotten this hugely important fact.

When you add-on everything; battery module, I/O module, Lens Mount, ect. the Scarlet S35 is going to be no cheaper than a Red One.

Very True. Also, I'm assuming Scarlet and Epic won't be open for NEW orders until 2010-2011, because of current Red One owners getting first take.

i really don't understand that argument. Yes, a $7,000 Scarlet will probably end up costing $15,000 to shoot, but my $17,000 RED ONE cost me about $30,000 to shoot.

$15,000 is still half of $30,000

I'm talking $15k, with no batteries, no lenses, no recording device, ect.; just modules. So you'll end up spending 15,000 in the Scarlet body and Modules.

Just so you know, Andrew, I wasn't referring to you in that post. It was aimed at the people worrying about their current cameras being rendered obsolete by Scarlet & Epic.

I agree, it's going to be a long while before the RED-ONE is not considered top-shelf.
