I have a workflow, it's it's outlined in the Avid PDF file. I'm just saying it could be easier.

Lots of things could be easier. Redrushes is a more streamlined than REDCINE. The PDF refers to an earlier version of RErushes. The new new one can transcode to DNxHD.

    Create QT and ALE
    Import ALE
    Import QT into selected clips
    edit.

8core 2,8GHz, 8GB RAM renders a half debayer(normal) DNxHD 185x faster than ProRes 1080p (less than 3 times realtime), and the import to the avid is amazing fast. Thats I like it :)

Right Andrew, but this is hardly different in the number of steps you'd require if you shot on 35mm. You'd get flex files from telecine, convert them to ALE, import ALE to Media Composer and capture media from those master clips.

Maybe it's time to update the PDF?

It is the process - it's on the list of the many things I do.

While we are talking Avid workflow...

I seem to have some problem doing "DNxHD36 720x576"-QT's from RedRushes + clicking on the make .ale
When I try to drag'n'drop it into an empty bin, it just says the project isn't HD and doesn't do anything.

I'm trying to do some SD-QT's that I can import into MediaComposer and get the metadata (only TC atualy) in it aswell.
    Any ideas?

DNxHD is a codec for HD formats and not SD. You can create 1080p DNxHD files and then import them into an SD project. But the ALE has to be imported into an HD project first. Just go to the Format Tab and change to 1080p/25. Then after the ALE import switch back to PAL and batch import the QTs.
