Trade in toward Scarlet

I can't find the announced trade in policy, but at any rate, I'd like to add this to the conversation if it is not covered.

After all the accessories are stacked up behind a FF35 Scarlet it will easily cost more than $17,500. I'm hoping the Red One can be traded in that direction.
I'm crazy about the DSMC concept, and the smaller form of the Scarlet suits my other uses very well.

Any word?

trade ins afaik are for Epic only. You can get 12% off a new scarlet, being a red one owner

I think what was announced was full trade in value towards epic or, you can choose to keep your RED one and get a one time 12% credit on Scarlet.

Perhaps, you could sell your RED One to someone who was planning to purchase an EPIC anyways... Then, you'd get enough money to buy your Scarlet setup (or perhaps close to it), and someone else has a working camera that can be used at 100% purchase price to go towards their future intended EPIC.

Just a suggestion anyways, that I think is allowed, but not positive.

This is correct. If you only want one camera and you want a Scarlet now instead of the R1 you should consider selling the R1 body to someone who wants to go EPIC. Many would love to get the bump up on the list.

I'm a bit confused about timeline - are these options open to you if you're about to take delivery? I seem to recall that the Epic trade-in offer as announced at NAB was only available to those who'd already committed (the logic being that those who bought in before the announcement of the upgrade options wouldn't be stuck with their choice in light of the new info).

Can you trade in/get a discount on a camera you unbox in Feb '09? How long does the upgrade offer stay open?

Also, do you Red folk know what'll be happening to all those traded in R1 bodies? (Any chance they become re-furbished, cheaper "Red Two's"?)

Any RED ONE, bought at any time, can be traded in for $17.5K on an EPIC. If you plan on upgrading... you can buy a R1 now and basically shoot it for free until your EPIC is ready.

Will the alternate of getting a 12% discount on a Scarlet apply as well to now and future RED One purchases as well as the EPIC trade in?

I don't want to take advantage of RED's amazing generosity toward its customers. I'm Just trying to understand potential options and make the most informed decision I can.

I was close to purchasing R1 list but the new EPIC/Scarlet has thrown me for a fantastic loop; which I need to come down from before making the right decision for myself. And, I would like to be part of a modular system in the future. I can see getting a lower end Scarlet to "accompany" an R1 for travel, B-CAM, etc.

Apologize if this has been answered. I have seen confirmation about the EPIC upgrade; but could not find confirmation on the 12% part.

I just found the trade in policy on Recon. You may trade the R1 toward an Epic OR get a discount on the Scarlet - not both.

The FF Scarlet is such a ringer for what I do, I guess I'll have to sell my R1. I hope I can still get some kind of place in the inevitable line for Scarlet purchase.

It's impossible to complain about this visionary and generous upgrade policy, but a couple of FF Scarlets will work better for me than an Epic. I'm not above a little (tasteful) groveling.

I as sure it will be possible to make direct swap from a RED one for a 2/3 or even S35 Scarlet, just not directly from RED.
