  1. #1 Equipment insurance for filming
I know someone who owns a RED. He wants to be the DP on the project, while I'd rather have him work as DIT and hire a more experienced DP.

I understand that he wants to build a reel, but a big issue for him is also other people handling his camera.
I thought we could compromise by taking out insurance for his camera.

What are some places where I could look into insurance for his camera and accessories for a 7 day shoot? ~$30K

    thanks,
    -J

i have no idea about temporary insurance... do you do a lot of projects per year? If so you could go with annual production insurance and give him a certificate. I got mine from Film Emporium Dot Com.

This is who I use. They are very fast and reliable. You might save $100 going with someone else, but these guys are very dependable.

I use DeWitt Stern for equipment insurance. Best rate that I came across. I'm still shopping around for a good liability policy.
