I am on a shoot right now and just got the same error. Clip one and seventeen had audio codec error but all others played back fine. Then after playing through the other clips 1 and 17 played back fine. I'd like to know what's up as well.
Its an issue with Build 16, solution is to upgrade to Build 17 when you can.
The audio has been recorded fine, its just a playback logic error.
I'm experiencing this on build 17. "Playback error audio fault". I don't know that it is that significant though since when I scroll up and down clips, I can replay the faulty playback clip just fine. But just so you know, I'm getting it with build 17.
Also still having stalled boot-up issues on build 17. I'm guessing this is being talked about elsewhere, I'll look around. Just thought I'd mention it.

Have you tried loading the new Build 18 V3.6.4 ?
This Beta release addresses stall on boot-up, and may also help you with the "playback error audio fault"
I have this error as well. Is it the green screen that comes up with "audio error" on it.
I run build 17 as well seeing that 18 is still beta.
I find that this occurs when you plug in or enable a audio track. Or from having it enabled and them unplugging the audio source. Most times I correct by. Unplugging and disabling the audio tracks and them playing back. 20% of the time I have to restart to fix it.
Knowing how to fix it I will continue on build 17 until 18 comes out alpha.
These clips on not effected once loaded onto the computer under my experience.
Hope this helps
Cheers

We had this problem on B17, upgrading to B18 seemed to fix it.
We then went back to B17 and didn't have the problem there anymore.. strange
I get this error all the time on build 18. Some have surmised it's really a hard drive issue - but I've never seen anyone at RED comment as to what's causing the problem.
I upgraded to Build 20 and used my camera this past weekend. Just yesterday this error showed up. Someone told me that he has seen this come up all the time before and that it is strictly a playback error. Apparently, in his experience, the footage always made it onto the media. We were using the Red Raid Drive and we unmounted it and immediately dumped the footage. He appeared to be right because the take we tried to playback was there.
He is correct, this is strictly a playback error. You shouldn't be seeing it though after upgrading to Build 20 v20.1.3.
Note the version number, 20.0.0 will have this error.
But if you are on 20.1.3, and its still happening, send RED tech support the camera LOG file.
