I am cool with $35,000 for a full frame epic. Does anyone have any idea as to how much the I/O module s will cost on top?

Apart from lenses, power and grip which I already have. It is just an epic head , I/O module, storage and viewfinder I need to buy. I just wonder if the I/O module will be over $10,000 .

No idea, however on another thread this topic came up, someone said they thought they'd budget "5,000 for modules (plural)"

Jim responded "Where did you get that number? Its...interesting"

Which tells us that 5000 for modules (plural) is probably dead wrong. Whatever that means.

It is the price of the modules that will make or break this thing.. Remember they work for ALL the Brains. So you could be looking at an additional $5,000 for a Scarlet..

I dunno how that will wash out.

Thanks guys. Yeah, that is the interesting part. I imagine there will be a variety of different spec's modules available. I can't see them being that cheap as there is quite a bit going on there, including the encoding?

We will have to wait and see.

i don't think the modules are going to be priced nearly that high. I'd expect to pay less than $2000 for the I/O module and less than $1000 for the battery expansion. While nothing is going to be cheap, I wouldn't expect any deal breakers with the accessories.

I doubt the modules would be doing the encoding -- that's almost certainly happening in the brains. The filesystem management and storage allocation: that I could see...

I wonder if they will release different versions of the I/O module, it would be sweet to have the ability to configure an I/O module for exactly what you want. Furthermore I want to know if RED might eventually release the pin configurations for the modular design so we have more variety and companies to look at for our accessories. I think that allowing companies to help build up the accessory line for RED will help spur competition to keep RED ahead of the curve.

I'd have to guess that everything in the "explosion" post by Jarred - EXCLUDING THE BRAIN AND LENS - will run somewhere between $12K - $15K

    My logic there is ....

the RED ONE with EVF, 7" LCD, quickplate and CF module is $23,950.

The Scarlet S35 Brain is (estimated) $7,000.

That is 5K and more dynamic range than the RED ONE -

so ... if you think of that as the "next generation" - it should be a little better & a little cheaper ... but then you "compensate" a bit for the modular construction ... and there is a bit of rod/bracket goodies in the "explosion" post ... so I'd say you are back at $23,950 ... add some magic Jannard dust and you get to $20,000 - less the $7K brain - that's $13K.

I expect, as usual, there are plenty of un-realistic folks.

This is all just my personal guess. I could be WAY off.
