Problems creating QT for avid editing

Hello,
Although I send this message already, I am facing a major problem, I cannot vreate the QT wrappers using the avid workflow. I follow to the letter the steps writtent on the site of avid but when I do, as indicated on figure 6, nothing happen. Then a few questions:
1- What codec do I select in RedRushes, Prores or DNxND, since I am working with avid I have the feeling it should be DNxND...
2- The output folder can be created in any drive I want or should it be created in the same location as the R3d fles?

I would like to know where I go wrong

Hi I am working on a film using the avid work flow and compressing R3Ds out of Redrushes. I am DIT on the film but try to lend a helping hand in post as much as possible as the editors have limited experience with Red. They have been experiencing problems using Redrushes some clips have what seams like skipped frames or broken TC after the Redrushes export while others render out a black frame. They were using component video as the codec for export instead of the DNxHD not sure why but will ask and repost when I get a chance.

As for the export folder, from my experience it is best to separate the exported media from the R3D. Leave the master copies of your footage alone, as masters should be. Then export and store your offline separately preferably to a separate drive or storage device to work of.

Francois, I've found the error reporting to be very limited in the RED software. I spent ages trying to work out why rsx files weren't being created for some test files I'd copied over on a DVD. It was down to not having write access to the folder in question. The RED software unfortunately doesn't report an error, it just doesn't do it.

Secondly RED Rushes kept coming up with an ERROR on a particular batch of files that it just wouldn't process. After much hair pulling, re-installling etc discovered that the problem was an "&" in the folder name.

Could very well be a write access problem I have not yet had any problem writing files on export to a particular directory.
Are you trying and are currently unable to export to the source folders?

The folder and file names in your path must not contain spaces or any illegal characters. If you have any spaces in any of the directories in the path, replace them with underscores. This is something I would consider a bug in Rushes, but it has been reported here numerous times.

Not sure if it is because they were not using the latest version of the codec or if wether their settings were incorrect. At the end of a 14 hour day I don't have the time (turn over, over time etc..) to trouble shoot their work flow so I don't have much else to contribute as a solution for you.

The latest version of RedRushes works great with DNxHD. I get "fast import" from the DNxHD quicktimes when batch importing from an ALE. This didn't happen before. I think that was because the ALE was off by a couple of frames but I am not sure... Try it - I really recommend it.

are you working with rendered qt's or qt wrappers?
