I love ET as a company, but their "pro pricing" is more than I can bear now.

WHen things were good it was cool to pay $375 to hold my battery, or $500 to hold my hard drive, but now... I need things to "work" even though they may not work perfectly. Cost matters. While I have not been hit full on with the economy, I expect too for the first few months of '09. So am being very careful.

But when I can afford "the best" I go ET.

Allstar this is far more than I expected.

I just bought one and am really looking forward to using it - hand held has been difficult thus far.

    Thanks

The shoulder mount does look good, but..

..you'll find your rig is a lot lighter if you buy a battery belt clip (remove battery) and a long drive cable (remove the drive), and replace the bars with a single six inch (in my case) aluminium rod (free from scrap yard), for the single handle I use.
This doesn't affect the balance of the camera using a lense like the 18-50mm zoom, and removing the battery and drive means you lose the Red cradle also.
Actually, mounting the battery and drive on the opposite side of your body, possibly on other shoulder using a sadle or adapted coat, might help balance the stress on your spine etc Its generally best to distribute weight evenly to avoid back trouble (something encouraged during my nurse training)

Is the Red top handle extension really needed, looks like extra weight to me? :weight_lift: :)

It is liberating shedding extra weight off the Red. The absolute BEST thing is the Action product Raid mount. I keep banging on about it but it really is very good - very lightweight, excellent design, unobtrusive, well made and economical. It can also be used to mount other stuff such as a wireless mcircophone as well again with minimal weight.

You can also do it the way Rodney Charters does it and use velcro for the drive. Cheapest and lightest solution.
