    Hi RED!

Hope you've recovered from yesterday - nice specs...

I gather this has been mentioned before, but if so I can't find it. A couple of RED One owners I know are excited at the idea of 1080FF (full frame) on the new cameras - for most broadcast work, that's the holy grail, frankly.

Are we going to see this on the RED One, and if so is there a rough timetable? Does it require an upgrade to Mysterium X, or can the original sensor manage it (I understand it's RGB as well, and carries a penalty on framerate and data rates).

Right now - THAT would be something to get excited about.

    Kind regards,

    Ben

There have been several confirmations on an upcoming "TV-build" of the firmware for R1, doing that.

    As to when... :)

    Gunleik,

Could you be more specific or link the thread you are referring to that has this information? I was not aware of this being a possibility on the roadmap for REDONE. Thanks!

I think the last I saw was Stuart, but Jim has also confirmed this.
I'd have to do a search...

But they don't seem to be in any hurry with this... And I don't blame them, really.

Actually, I think it was your mention of this elsewhere that got me wondering - but I can't find it anywhere so - no offense - was hoping someone from RED could shed some light on this.

And as for "don't seem to be in any hurry....I don't blame them" can you explain why? It's pretty much the most requested and most useful upgrade for RED One I can think of in TV land, and would make a massive difference for post and acceptance in TV work - not all those 300 Red Ones are making movies - most people want easy to process 1080p with 35mm depth of field, and quad-HD is at best a stopgap IMHO...

I remember back in 2007 Jim saying that this will not happen on the Red one.
This is probably another reason why Red is giving us this great upgrade plan.

But then it was re-enlisted as a "TV-build"...

Why I don't care so much anymore?
    4kHD plays realtime here...

He also said Scarlet wouldn't have interchangeable lenses.
