Hi,

Please assume my complete ignorance in any replies you may give to this thread.

We are using Redcine to create 1080 25 PsF Quicktimes in Avid DNxHD codec, which we are then importing using an ALE into a PAL 16:9 project.

We have just installed the new 1.10 Avid Codec pack, which has resolved our garbled quicktime outputs.

My clients are now questioning the exposure of the footage, as a lot of it seems to be burnt out. I know that Redcine is doing a conversion from Log to Linear, and the settings are:

Colourspace: Redspace
Gamma: Redspace
Number: 2.2

How can I find out if this conversion is correct? The technician in Canada tells me that I can choose my colour space and gamma, as the RAW files are not colour space specific, i.e, I choose the colour space I want to output into (REC709??) rather than the colour space the footage was shot in. I have to get the conversion right at this stage, as we are using the quicktimes as the final output.

As you can tell I'm new to all of this. If any one could give me their advice or experience, I would be eternally grateful.

Thanks,

Gareth
