  1. #1 1080 Pro Res HQ on Raid & Macbook Pro?
    Hi there,

I know this was briefly discussed before, but I wonder if anyone has more concrete experience with this set-up?

I want to cut 1080 Pro Res HQ on a Raid (with a built in multiplier port) on a MacBook Pro with an eSATA card & FCP. We have about 4 TB of data.

If it works, does more than 1 or 2 layers slow it down?

    Any specific experience out there?

    Thanks,
    Chris

Depends on the machine specs and RAID specs.

My Macbook Pro, which is now rather old, first of the C2D models, 2GB, 2.33GHz dual core CPU, ATI video.. Will work with two streams of 1080p fine. It does stutter or skip a beat here and there with two streams. Beyond that, 3 layers and more, gets pretty klunky to even unusable, even with a rather fast RAID attached. On the bright side, a two-drive RAID-0 connected via eSATA performs just fine with two layers of 1080p ProRest.
