  1. #1 no more import CS4??
After installing everything for CS4 and the plugin, I was able to import R3D and everything was working beautifully in both Premiere and After Effects.

Couple of hours later, I lost the ability to import or even read R3D files in Premiere (AE is still okay).

    Any idea what's going on?

I tried reinstalling the plugin. Tried reinstalling Premiere. Tried uninstalling/deleting Premiere and reinstalling again. All updates were obtained on each reinstall (4.0.1).

    Hope someone can help....

Since it works fine for me, I can only suggest a full re-install. Sorry.

still cannot get Premiere Pro to import R3D files again, after several reinstalls of the CS4 app and the plugin.
it was working perfectly the first day! After Effects handles the R3D's just fine - Premiere is where the problem is.

    any ideas from anyone?

running an intel MacPro with dual quadcore 2.8's and 8GB of memory. OSX 10.5.5

    thanks in advance!

Right. It seems you have to first re-install Premiere Pro, THEN install the Premiere Pro Update before you install the plug-in again. Not sure why it was working then stopped working but this procedure should fix the problem.

so i find, that i have to open more projects, import the whole material into more projects, and than import the projects into one project.

Don't use beta software for projects that have so much footage (or close deadline) that no one would call this a "test". Beta is meant for tests only. If your test is positive, fine. But your test failed, obviously - sorry for that and thanks for sharing.

Transcode the whole stuff to something like ProRes or DNxHD - you can edit ProRes in CS4 if tools like Avid or FCP are not wanted - and conform the project later in Scratch, SpeedGrade, BaseLight, what ever.

For CS3 there is a nice workflow developed by CineForm - does also work with FCP.

Editing off RAW files still feels not snappy. Most editors find this a setback. I'm not dead sure yet but I've got the feeling that RGB/YUV will have a longer life than many RAW-enthusiasts may think.
