    Hi

I am currently editing a project in Final Cut Pro (newest update) and am using the _P files to make the first rough cut. I use REDCODE as sequence preset and it works quite well, although if I add an effect or something else that needs render, and render it, it turns grey. If I look up the files it's just a 4kb grey file. I tried using PRORES as sequence preset, but then I need to render all the time. The sequence is red then.

Is it somehow possible to use REDCODE as codec but have renders work? Or would it be better to transcode all the material into ProRes and take it from there? Is it possible to keep the timecode although converted to ProRes and online it again afterwards? How's the workflow on that?

Thanks for any information on that!

I have same issue - I change sequence codec to prorez hq. no need to render before you add effect. dont think you can render in REDCODE.

EDIT: you can export all material to prorez hq 1/4 debayer to edit in. import to FCP- and then use Crimson (a program) to export an xml into redcine and then do your master export from there (or DPX for grading.)

Ok, that seems to be the way to go, thanks!

The only problem is, if I chose prores HQ, I need to use the 2K proxies right? Can't use smaller ones?

Another thing, how's the workflow on onlining prores offline edit proxies generated by redrushes back to 4K?

    thanks so far!
