Hey guys and gals! I have a meeting this Sunday (jan 4 2009) with a bunch of Apple certified pros that are interested in the red cam and red work flow. I think it's like 10 to 15 of them.

I'm not sure how much they already know about it because they are coming to this meeting at a local camera house(Milwaukee, yes we have red's here! and it's on fire!!) to get an overview of the camera and some of the possible work flows. But I'm sure they could answer some of the technical stuff about how there apps work with video(color, FCP, etc).

I will have my own set of questions (3k in FCP/color or whats in the works) but would be glad to voice some of yours as well. Please feel free to post your questions here and I will get back to you after the meeting.

    ok, now start posting yall!!

    Well, my priorities are:

    - How to avoid gamma shifts, in particular when working with ProRes in FCP and native to DPX in Color

    - How to handle 3K in full quality (full-debayer, scaling etc.). It's very important for us in Europe, since we need 50 fps frequently, not only 25

    Looking forward to their answers…
    Regards,

    Uli

What's up with 10-bit in Shake? Why is that still broken? (I know the product is EOL'ed, but they still sell it...)

Gamma shift and procedures for getting perfect gamma out to h.264 for the web. What's the process used to create the movie trailers on Apple's site?

    Hi Charles
Didn't the Shake 10 bit update a few weeks ago fix the 10bit Quicktime issue ?
I haven't had time to check it out yet.

How can one build correct LUTs for Color?
Why are they 16 points instead of 17?
Are they 1D (like Pandora) or 3D?
Are they limited to YUV space?

(Actually questions from Steve (Digital Praxis), but I'm equally interested)

Nope. I'm getting garbage pixels / noise on the right edge of frame with Apple 10-bit UC. Same as before.

A couple biggies about Snow Leopard:

The under-the-hood mechanics of Quicktime have been thrown out and replaced, right? Right??

Gamma will be a non-issue right?

Probably covered by NDA's, even if they do know, though...

I know these will likely not be answered, so here's another:

    How can I ensure gamma

    yeah,

What's the best way to monitor 5.1 surround sound through Soundtrack Pro?

Is it a matter of plugging in a 5.1 speaker system into an amp and connecting it through the optical out on the back of a Mac Pro?

    Thanks

    Steve
