  1. #1 Any info on the Glidecam X-22? RED compatible?
Does anyone know if the Glidecam X-22 is coming out soon? It's been on the B&H catalogue for quite a while but I can't get any information on it whatsoever... If it is affordable and can hold up RED one's weight, I would definitely be interested in purchasing it.

The X-22 is rated at up to 22 lbs. That's enough for a really stripped-down RED package, but you'll really want more capacity than that. I fly my RED with my Steadicam ProVid (rated at 26 lbs capacity) and I really have to watch my weight to balance it out.

I spoke to GLIDECAM couple of months back when making a decision between V25 and Actioncam. The V25 is more then suited for Red One and $5K cheaper, but the sledge is not necessarily RED-friendly and has a lot of stuff one will not need. I've pointed out the growing user-base of RED owners and asked if there will be any possibility to create a special version of the V25 without all the unnecessary stuff and little more RED-friendly. I was told they would look into it. I suppose the X-22 is going to be exactly that...

If anyone from Glidecam can comment on this and reveal a little more about this new rig, I think many here would greatly appreciate it...

PS: I haven't bought my rig yet... :innocent:

I have a Red Edition Actioncam and love it, never had any problems flying my Red configured anyway I want to. No need to worry about fine tuning weight configurations the Red Edition arm comes with 11-44lb spring packs. Of course as an operator lighter is always better on the body after a long day. As Shawn said check out Actioncam.

thanks for the reply. I would love to get the actioncam but it's a bit too pricey for me. I'm only going to use it for very simple angles (mostly chase camera) and I probably will have a very light set up so the new glidecam seemed to be just fine for my purpose... The B&H catalogue featured it 6 months ago but still no word on sales... Flyer is another option, but my budget is $5000 max. I guess I just have to wait...
