FCP unable to play PR22HQ, why??

Newbie here.
Transcoded red to Pro Res 22 HQ. Put in sequence for the same. I have my playback quality on LOW, and only playing 1/4 frame rate. STILL, my computer stutters and stops playing after about 8 seconds.

I have an intel mac pro dual core and 5 GB of RAM.

Im trying not to panic here. Why would this be happening? Please help.

Is your drive that you're playing the clip from fast enough?

Ah, thanks. so I should be shutting this off or excluding my editing drive?

Exclude all editing drives. And, again, your editing drive should be at least quite a fast model if it's not a small RAID (preferred).
