They say Reduser is REDALERT's user manual so here goes.

The only thing I don't understand about RED ALERT are the three views- Defaults, Metadata and Grade.

When I make some adjustments with Grade selected then save it as a preset, when I go to add the same preset in Log and Transfer the picture stays the same, the adjustments don't "take" even though the preset name is in the Color Profile column of Log and Transfer.

    What am I doing wrong?

Well, the most obvious: did you choose that look and wait until all thumbnails changed? It can take quite a while with many clips.

Next: curves have no effect yet, use the other parameters. They work for me.

I got it to work after rebooting... it's strange that it wasn't updating to the new preset.

So just to make sure I understand the Red Alert views:

Default: is this Red Alert's Default? (Redspace)

    Metadata: Camera Metadata

    Grade: my own grade.

Now I take it when you create a preset or make a Quicktime the view you want must be selected?

Why do you lose your grade when you switch to default? The views are not "locked"?

You are understanding the options correctly.

If you want to use a saved look in L&T, you need to select it.

If you reset in RA, you loose the look, save it first.

Thank you nomad. Despite a few newbie problems I really like the Red Alert/Preset/Log and Transfer way of editing, much easier than the others.

Me too. The only problem are the gamma shifts. But once you are grading native in Color, it' "wow" !

Save the look in REDAlert and use it in Log & Transfer in Final Cut Pro for conversion.
