I get what your saying Mark. I'm not fighting you here, just saying, use what you have for what it does well.
For me, REDRUSHES is my transcode software, REDCINE my preview software and REDALERT my .rsx creation software. Until things are otherwise its kind of mute point. Cheers :-)

I'm with you on everything, Mike.
I'm sounding a little harsh just from remembering the bad times when I last tried using Redcine for what it's meant to do, and can't stand seeing other people falling into the same problems with it a year later, having a nightmare, and running around saying "the red Post-Production software sucks, cost me $$$, etc. It does you, me, and every Red Owner a disservice, and therefore we really are better off seeing it either exterminated, or truly fixed.
It's been a year and a half... come on, team!

I have noticed the the red timecode since updating. Is this dropped frames? What?

I find it strange the number of people who report success/failure with RC. Why isn't it stable for all yet?

I still don't have a windows transcoding tool that works, only OSX Redcine can export TIFFs, QTs no, but frankly its windows that needs it for us small fry and our clients.
Would I pay for something that doesn't work, no I wouldn't. Would I buy into a proprietory format without such tools, no I wouldn't.
Efforts to improve Redcine are appreciated, but I think its time for a rethink frankly cos its getting boring now..

I'm with ronx : I keep asking whenever I post something here to have at least the QT redcode for PC, come on, more than 1 year has passed now... That's the biggest Red postproduction drawback : no real PC support to easily batch convert R3D files to QT... and I don't even talk about sound here...

I'm on a mac. I use RC without issues. I love the RC experience. (Yes, I know there are other mac users who DO HAVE RC issues)

I don't understand how people can use a PC, especially in regards to film/video. It's a preference I know and I can respect that. Price shouldn't be the factor - you end up paying for those PC headaches in the long run.

So no one knows anything concerning the red timecode? I don't think it's dropped frames as the there aren't any in the footage. Perhaps it's related to audio and audio clipping?
