I'm sitting here putting the finishing touches on a short comedy we just shot called "Raising the Bar" and we've moved another movie into post called "Dead Wives & Dogs That Follow" (Gotta love that title!). They were both shot on the Pana SDX900.. Good camera.. No doubt about it
So what's this got to do with RED.. Well, I kind of rediscovered my love for shooting. I love framing and telling stories with a visual, and I am sitting here thinking about the amazing possibilities I will have with Jim's new camera.
Incredible use of DOF, color in a thousand different ways. Slo-Mo... Wow
And even better, I'll be able to actually design my OWN RED.. Think about it guys, each of us will build the camera WE WANT.. And I'm convinced that Jim has me protected with this thing for AT LEAST 8 years. I'm betting this camera will stay current and usable for 8 years if not more..
With all respect to Mr. Mullen, a "true" professional.. I just love movies, I love making them, all areas. I love the directing, the shooting, and even the editing. But I am not a fan of "investors" or people with no experience in film thinking they know more than my life's passion simply because they can write bigger checks. No... part of what I love about making movies, is being ALLOWED to make them.. I don't like making movies by committee.
With RED, some decent time, and a lot of effort, there's quite simply nothing I cannot do.
Yes.. I am very excited to have this camera.
Thanks Jim, andthanks to everyone at RED whoes job it is to turn this vision into a reality.
