Designing Lens Case

Is there a right way or a wrong way to position lenses in a case?

I plan on designing a custom foam insert for our lenses (RED 18-50mm, 300mm and Angenieux 25-250) and wanted to know if I should put the front of the lens down or cut a cone out of the foam and position the lens with the mount down? Or should they be stored laying down horizontal?

Is there a better or worse way?

The big lenses should definitely be laid horizontally.
