  1. #1 RED and P+S Technik IMS
    Hello everyone.
some days ago i've been involved with my red one in a production in southern germany as a B camera.
we were supposed to use nikon mount lenses, so i put on my nikon mount.
With a big surprise i found that A camera had a PS Technik IMS mount, with a prototype of a custom designed Nikon professional F mount.
Useless to say ( for anyone who has been working with PS-made accessories), it was extremely well done and precise. it had a firmer mount for the lens, even with the follow focus pushing the lens from the side.
I thought that it was a really clever design, and the IMS was such a good idea, i immediately asked the PS Technik's representative ( who was attending the shooting) for an IMS to mount on my RED.
He said he would sent an IMS to me with pleasure, but he advised me that the warranty issues with RED where still not resolved, for whatever reason.
i did some digging in the reduser forum and i found tons of posts on the topic, but couldn't find what's the final word, if there's one.

can someone tell me how are the things set today?

P+S says the installation of the ims does not imply the warranty to be void and it should be considered an accessory like any other.
i think IMS is great, works beautifully and i'd really love to see it mounted on my red one.
PS Technik's guys are highly motivated on IMS and their work is as perfect as you could dream of it.
but losing my warranty is a big issue, especially for the Epic x trade in program.

    Any word from red

Sanjin, looks like you are the IMS prophet...
how is your warranty at this point?
will you be getting the Epic X?
can I go with IMS safely?

It is important for many users that the IMS issue be resolved favourably. I dont have one yet but would like to go this route. Please could I respectfully ask Red and P&S to progress this matter.

    IMS is a great system.

But with IMS on RED1 I'm a "looser" and have lost any free upgrade from RED.

For all upgrades (audio board and CF 16GB slot) I have to pay extra.

But it's fair and correct somehow because I took my own risk and voided RED warranty.

In a meantime I solved audio problem with my M-Audio Micro Track II recorder phantom power and line out.

16 GB cards I don't need because they are still expensive.

    MANXLX,

let me ask you what happened with the warranty connected to Birger's "wiring on the RED ONE"

or any other example of RED1 that took off original RED PL mount (Soderberg's Panavised RED1, etc...)
