  1. #1 4K Sony projectors at Muvico Cineplex
Just read an article in the Thousand Oaks Acorn that Muvico is opening its 14 theaters in my hometown of Thousand Oaks, Ca with So Cal's only Sony 4K ultra-high-definition projectors on Feb 27th. This includes 3 theaters with large seating and small tables for food and alcoholic drinks from an adjacent Bar and Grill.

Wondering how I can get my Red footage on those screens in 4K. Any news on Ray Ray? What are the other options to play back 4k footage?

I thought the Landmark and the Nuart both had a Sony 4K projector.

I'm astonished the Nuart has a 4K projector. That's wonderful.

I have no idea who else may have a 4k projector, simply quoting the article which no doubt mirrors what Muvico PR told them. I am however very interested in having one or 16 of them 5 minutes away, and since I used to shoot local ads in 35mm for some clients in another town I am interested in how to go about doing a 4K test at the theaters.

Perhaps it's just a first for Movico...since I just checked Sony's site with a map of 4k projectors.

Here in Cumming, AMC opened up the first all 4K cineplex in Georgia last summer. I've spoken with management there about the Sony CineAlta systems and was told they are all 4K, however, everything being shown at present is only 2K. YMMV.
