  1. #1 Ok, I have made my mind up
I have read the reviews and decided that a good set to start from is the Nikon 17-35mm f2.8 + Nikon 85mm f1.4.

The breathing of the 85mm is not really a problem for me. If it becomes too obvious it seems pretty easy to fix in post.

So, I want to acquire these two lenses, used, on the internet. Which sites do you recommend me?

I got my nikkors from keh.com after reading Evins recommendations, it´s a bit on the pricey side, but they have a good reputation, and a precise system of rating the quality of their used lenses, so you know what you get!

    And they ship to Europe.

Why not get a 50 f1.4 too? it's nikon's cheapest lens and it will be extremely useful to you. Besides, if you're in trouble and need some pickups without light, you'll have something a little wider than an 85...

I also recommend KEH. Other than that, I'm out of suggestions for shipping to Spain...

For use on RED, the 17-35mm is going to be a good lens, but will be tricky to pull focus. The 85mm f1.4 is a wonderful lens, but hard to find -- demand outpaces supply on this one quite regularly. If you can't find it, the 85mm f1.8 is half the price, but IMO is only half as good. It's still a very sharp lens, but doesn't have the overall performance and same beautiful bokeh and flare properties of the f1.4 model.

I would also recommend the 50mm f1.4 lens, cheap and wonderful. Because of the crop factor of the 35mm Nikkors on RED, you should also consider a wider lens for your collection. The 17-35mm will in reality be about a 25-54mm or something to that effect and you may not find that wide enough for all your needs. But it's hard to find many options in still lenses that are wider than about 15mm or so and are not a fisheye or without lots of distortion.

    My Nikon kit is:

    14mm f2.8
    17-35mm
    50mm f1.4
    85mm f1.4
105mm f2.8 macro ** nice lens, but no manual aperture ring **
    135mm f2
    70-300mm f4.5

Even with all that, I'm still seriously considering buying the RED lenses and have reservations down. Stay away from any of the DX series lenses. The DX lenses are enhanced for digital sensor sizes in Nikon's DSLR cameras and provide a slightly smaller FOV in relation to their focal length rating. I don't know if they would vignette on RED or not, I'm assuming they will be fine, but I just don't care for how Nikon is doing this.

AppliedVisual - I have the 105mm 2.8 macro AI and love it. It breathes a lot, but I don't plan on racking with it very much since I'm more or less burnt out on unmotivated or unnecessary racks.

I've been playing with the 105mm macro. The lack of manual aperture really bothers me, but other than that, it's really nice. I just bought it about 10 days ago, so I haven't done a whole lot with it just yet.

Still holding out hope for my 17-55 f/2.8 and my 70-200 f/2.8 no aperture ring :( ......so close to giveing up, and just buying the RED Zoom, And yet if I could get my Nikon's to work well, I'd be a happy camper.

Focus throw of the 17-35 is too short and the focus distance settings do not hold constant through the zoom range. IMO it is not a seful lense for any cine style work.

Weird.. I have a autofocus 105mm micro nikkor and it has a manual aperture from F32 to 2.8

And I have to say I think it's the sharpest lens I've ever seen.. it's scary how crisply it focuses. The term "tack sharp" really applies to this one.

    Cheers,
    Pete
