Did you guys hear about this? I guess ole Dean Schneider is throwing in the towel on Fvesco. They're shutting their doors in less that 6 weeks. I asked if it was because of the economy and they just said that Dean was fed up with the business! He's not even bothering to sell the joint!

Guess that leaves LSI as the only game in town for rental. Ouch.

End of an era. We always used to ask "What would Dean do?" when it was time to make a difficult business decision! I mean that with the greatest respect and I wish everyone there the best.

Stopped in this morning, will probably go back later today. I think the boys still working there have their hands full right now. They're still trying to get prices together. I'm trying to pick up some lenses if they're willing to deal, but I'm not getting my hopes up too high. Lot of people out there willing to over-pay for glass right now.

...I'm waiting for Scott to send me a more detailed list and some prices on some things I inquired about.

What is Dean going to do?
What prompted this..I'm sure there is a GREAT story hidden in here....
I've known him for years..this is crazy!
Something/someone must have REALLY pushed his buttons to get this to happen.
    Sad day......

All Forbes would say is that Dean is fed up and is retiring. He's not even trying to sell the place, nor are they going to mark prices down on any of their gear. If the company sells, great. If not, everything will get locked up and collect dust. At least that what it Forbes said- He seemed a bit bitter though :)

I kinda got the same impression (bitterness) when I was in there earlier. Although it's understandable given the situation. I didn't bother to ask any details or pry any info out of them. I get the impression that they have no great desire to liquidate anything. The no real desire to sell anything cheap, or even at all, attitude came across loud and clear. I don't think this was an economic decision, or at least not one dictated by a slowing economy.

Sad to see them go. I don't know Dean personally, but I know many who always speak highly of him.
