    Hi everyone, wanted to share my feelings about one problem with shipping/backorders and want to know your opinions.

    As it has happened to every Red-owner so far, when i received my cam back in September many accessories where missing, so since then every month or two i was receiving the missing parts. First the case, then the LCD Pro etc. ... everyone know how this goes, and i accepted this as i know it is part of the game.

    What happens now is that all this separate shipping charges have enormously eroded my RED account credit, so now that i should finally receive my last item, my 16GB cards, my rep says $423 are missing (!) ... so i have to pay to receive what i've already paid long ago and waited patiently for so long.

    I mean, is this fair ? As many others i've waited patiently for ages, but paying more because of this does not feel fair to me.

    Everyone knows that 5 separate fedex shippings cost more than one, but sure it was not our choice ... what do you guys think about this?
    is this something you accepted along with backorders and delays?

    Simon, you always have the option of taking delivery of your camera and then waiting until all of your backordered accessories are available to ship so it comes in one shipment. However, I can understand your frustration and rest assured that we are working diligently to reduce the number of items that are on backorder.

    your story does not help to make the decisions ...

    A lot of people told us, here in Europe about that problem... of backorders... numerous parts missing, waiting for months and sometime more than 4 months ...

    Hope it will be fixed one day because serioulsy this make me really nervous ... when you are going to spend 50k you don't want to have this kind of problem...

    I can understand your frustration... and still don't know what to do for myself...

    Hi Simon,

    Frustrating but I know Red are doing the best they can. It's all very new and part of the deal here is that we share in the learning process.

    I was hit by the same thing. I asked a few times that my orders be held, so they could be shipped together, but they never were. At one stage I was receiving a Fed Ex shipment to Sydney every week at US$100 a pop, just for the shipping.

    Hey, a few hundred bucks of extra shipping is a SMALL price to pay for the amazing benefits we are getting here.

    One thing I can say is that Red recognize when there is a problem and fix it.

    Brent, bless his Red Heart, Fed Exed me a new AC cable free of charge within hours of me reporting an issue. Try getting Sony to do that and see how you go! :)

    Bottom line, I just shot a show for Sony Music using 6 Reds. Ironic, I know!
    That was priceless so I've forgotten all about the shipping pains.

    Soon you will too!

    hehe, the $ currency is waaaaayyyyy to high to buy anything from usa to eu-scandinavia for a while. All is about twice as expensive now as for a year ago. A REDONE body need to cost under $ 10.000 just to cost same here. Then most of us also have lost jobs/customers so the urge to invest is ... low.

    It's all a matter of perspective.

    I ordered my RED when the exchange rate was bad, like 65¢ to the U.S. $.

    When my order came up the exchange rate was great, 88¢ so I saved a bundle, bonus!

    Now it's in the toilet again.

    My point is the Red is worth at least three times what it costs so you can't go wrong. I was willing to pay toilet rates when I ordered, but got lucky.

    My opportunities (and profits) have gone through the roof since I got my Red. It represents the next evolution of my career.

    Gotta spend it to make it!

    uh actually i would not make this problem that big. i had to wait 7 months to have the camera and it was worth the wait. it's more a matter about paying too many shipping charges, not questioning about the product itself.
    this should not interfere with your decision about buying the camera or not.
    Wish i was smart enough to be the first red owner as offHollywood ... :unhappy:

    I wanted to be the first in Bombay, but the wait for the entire thing to be shipped has been so long that there are zillions of RED ones in Bombay. I cant even take the dates given to me by BRIAN seriously as things never pop up on the given dates.

    There is a reason that Jim has a footer on every one of his posts of "Everything in life changes... including our camera specs and delivery dates...". Brian gives the best information that he has available at that time. Jon updates http://www.reduser.net/forum/showthread.php?t=7253 every couple of weeks. We don't give "dates" - we give delivery estimates to the best of our ability given the information we have at the time.

    Sorry for your frustration, I am. But I also ask you to understand that Brian is doing the best he can. As our dedicated backorder fulfillment BOMB SQUAD rep, every item that has been backordered and then delivered has had his hand in making sure that happened.

    It's actually comforting to know that RED is taking their time making sure the products are built correctly, rather than mass-manufacturing a bunch of lousy items.

    Sure, in a perfect world I'd like to get my RED products immediately, but that's because I'm generally impatient. But because what you're getting is so well-made and amazing, its definitely worth the wait. They also give you the option to have stuff shipped together which reduces the shipping charges, if that's your concern.

    I'm waiting anxiously for my RPPs, don't get me wrong, but my top concern is that the RPPs are high-quality and perform as expected. Now if they don't come for like over 6-months, thats a different story.......
