There is something special about Fargoans that goes beyond how nice and caring they are. This might be showing as we see and hear of 3 million sandbags placed by them in hopes to hold of the waters of the Red river.

I am pretty sure one of the locations for a project I am working on, a residential drive way, has a sandbag levy just yards away from it right now.

The River is now 42ft higher than normal... crazy stuff.

I'm seeing that too.....3 hours north of Fargo in Canada. I live a block away from the RED River, in Winnipeg, and even though it's not nearly as bad as it is there, we are preparing for the worst....we've seen it.
Times like these bring out the best in people....comrades in arms against an enemy...and the fight is just beginning.
I'm wondering though, why would Fargo pay 400 million to build a wall, when they could have built a floodway like we did for half the cost? It has saved us year after year, especially since ALL that water there slowly makes it's way here.

Either way, I am praying for anyone that's affected by this strange and mind blowing weather we've ALL been experiencing lately. Crazy shit indeed.

Some videos that sum it all up:
_ Timelapse of the river: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Jl-npodPnnA (holy sh#t!)
    _ An other Timelapse: http://www.wdaz.com/
    _ Red One shots: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oJr4hQ5J0gM
_ Efforts of the town: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p64x_h-Gg0Y

It is crazy to think that the whole town was going like shown on this video... that was not the only sand-bag filling station, many were going at the same time... I heard the whole city was buzzing, all at once.

...perhaps from the flood of '79? That was a doozy as well.
Or did you take 'la canoe' out for a spin on that twisty American stretch? The fast current makes for some nice excursions.
